The greek island of Naxos is part of the Cycladic group located in the Southern Aegean Sea. Actually Naxos is the largest and also the greenest of the Cyclades. It has beautiful sandy beaches, beautiful mountain villages and fertile valleys. There are also a number of ancient ruins to see along with beautiful old churches. Unlike many of the Cycladic islands Naxos has an abundance of water so they grow more produce than any of their neighbors. Naxos also practices bee keeping and therefore are known for the honey they produce. Naxos is also well known for the variety of cheeses they make. My personal favorites were Graviera which comes from cows milk and I also really enjoyed Arseniko which is made by the combining sheep and goat milk. Its only about an hour by ferry from Mykonos but to me its really a hidden gem as it doesn't attract the huge crowds as Mykonos.
