Located about 45 minutes east of Heraklion overlooking the Bay of Malia you'll find the Ikaros Beach Resort and Spa. It is a 5 star luxury resort hotel as rated by TripAdvisor, Google and Trivago. It is a huge facility that has probably everything one would need for a truly luxurious holiday. The resort has very modern rooms, private bungalows and even luxury suites. Our Bungalow came with a small semi private pool that we shared with one other bungalow next to ours. The resort overlooks a huge sandy beach with ample lounges and umbrellas for guests. There are 3 very large outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool located in the beautiful spa facility. One of the outdoor pools is a family pool, one is for adults only and the other one is located just off the main dining room. The Family Pool The Adults Pool Another Family Pool All guests enjoy free wifi, free parking and a tremendous buffet breakfast that is included in your rate. There are 5 a'la carte restaurants featuring Asian, Italian, traditional Greek, a Worldly mix and Mediterranean. And speaking of food, absolutely YUM. They also have dining theme nights. We had dinner in the Greek taverna on the night there was traditional Greek folk music and dancing during the meal. A private dining experience is also available in a gazebo overlooking the Bay of Malia. As we were celebrating our anniversary during our stay we had an absolutely wonderful dining experience in the private gazebo. The Greek Taverna Our private Anniversary dinner The Asian restaurant They have 3 large and well equipped bars that serve your every need. On most nights during our 7 day stay there was entertainment that included a magician, dancing demonstrations and local bands. A Greek Liquor well stocked A Theme dining option Local dancing demonstrations The resort offers an all inclusive option where all meals would be available in the main dining room and the a'la carte restaurants would be discounted. We found this resort to be an excellent choice for couples or families with children of all ages. We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile and a friendly greeting. The management was actively involved in making sure the guests were happy. Every day we saw both the manager and guest relations manager all over the facility throughout the day speaking with guests. Our semi private pool The beautiful beach Exploring the resort I mentioned earlier that we were celebrating our anniversary during our stay. My wife also celebrated her birthday a few days later. The guest relations manager arranged on both occasions for a special cake to be made for us and presented during our dinner. One more thing that happened that really helped make our stay so very special. We were invited to join the Guest Relations Manager and about 40 other guests to attend a special event that is generally reserved for guests that have stayed there several times we were told. The resort owner's wife is from a small mountain village about an hours drive from the resort. We saw the towns museum, toasted with Raki and walked to the village square for dinner and an outdoor folklore show. It was truly an amazing evening of dining and entertainment. Our Anniversary cake The Special Night Out Traditional Greek Dancing I highly recommend the Ikaros Beach Resort and Spa for anyone visiting Crete that enjoys being pampered.
